#9: Indictment Week

While there is certainly always something interesting happening in the U.S. political world, little has been more interesting or historical than watching the former President of the United States being indicted on 34 felony counts. It is almost more interesting to watch the separate coverages of the indictment from network to network.

Most networks, like HuffPost, NBC, ABC, and CNN, all posted generalized coverage. They explained why the former President had been indicted, what the charges mean, what the charges can entail, and how the President got himself into this situation. While innocent people don't normally get charged 34 times, Fox News still believes that Trump is not to blame in this situation. Their coverage was considered wacky and all over the place throughout the week (link).

Despite the call for professionalism on live national television, Fox anchors found themselves getting pretty emotional over indictment week. Jessee Watters stated that he felt America was living in a revengeful political climate, and that he feels bad for the former President. He referred to the 34 felony counts as the government's way of 'nickel and diming' Trump. Even making reference to Trump becoming President again in 2024 as a result of the indictment bringing 'good publicity' to the former President.

The truth here is that the Former elected President of the United States paid hush money to a porn star, 12 days before a national election, and then falsifying the business records to state that the payment was for legal fees. Calling it a witch hunt because it was consensual sex lacks critical thinking, he went out of his way to con the system into hiding his dirt rather than owning up to it or allowing it to be released in the media.
